How can you help?

  • Provide help in our garden enterprise, growing produce, planting and maintaining the grounds
  • Enjoy creating exciting new products within in our woodcrafts workshop
  • Help us look after our on site animals including Alpaccas, Goats, Chickens & Guinea Pigs 
  • Support our catering service or conference centre
  • Become a Charity Shop Assistant in our on site shop
  • Provide advice and support to those affected by alcohol and drugs in the community
  • Provide mentoring support within our Reset service
  • Help our residents to build their social and practical skills through art, alternative therapies, IT and other creative work
  • Provide practical assistance to our residents, for example accompanying them when they have hospital or other appointments.
  • Help the Events and Fundraising Team with planning and administration tasks

Who can volunteer?
Anyone over the age of 18 years is welcome to make contact with us, regardless of their experience or the amount of time they can share. All Volunteers are subject to an enhanced DBS check.

How much time would I need to offer?
Volunteer opportunities can be flexible and in most cases, tailored to suit the time you can give.

Will volunteering affect my benefits?
There are no limits on the amount of time you can volunteer for, but you must continue to meet the conditions of the benefit or tax credit you are receiving. It is always advisable to discuss your choices with your benefits advisor before you start.

Volunteer Gardener

Lead and support role in all aspects of horticulture in the nursery and grounds of Kenward House, Kenward Road, Yalding, Kent

The primary purpose of all the work is to engage residents and other volunteers in horticultural work as occupational therapy for the residents.

Second is the production of high quality plants, cut flowers and fruit and vegetables for sale in Kenward House Reception.

Outdoor Working Party – Corporate Volunteers

To help provide support with the various aspects of maintenance and upkeep in the grounds and gardens at our beautiful 16-acre estate.

Volunteer Counsellor / Art Psychotherapist

We offer a professionally supervised placement for trainee counsellors & art psychotherapists, many of whom continue as volunteers once qualified.

We accept placement applications from counselling students of BACP-accredited courses, course’s with CPCAB as their awarding body.  We accept placement applications from psychotherapy students on courses leading to UKCP accreditation.

Counselling training must have, or have had, a therapeutic and personal development component rather than being purely theoretical or research based (for example Distance Learning courses). Examples of this include: role-play, observed assessments, peer supervisory work, video or audio assessed assessments.

Students will need to supply a fitness to practise report, produced by your current tutor.

We also value applications from qualified counsellors and therapists who are working towards accreditation or who simply want to volunteer.

Applicants must be willing to be flexible in their approach to work and be prepared to work with a minimum of 3 clients if required.

Applicants will have a recognised professional membership (e.g.  BACP student membership etc.) indemnity insurance. Students to be in personal therapy or to have experience at least 20 recent counselling sessions.

The successful post holder will provide a therapeutic service from our site in Yalding. .

All applicants will be supplied with supervision and must be willing to attend and engage in supervision on a regular basis as well as quarterly line management.

We are looking for volunteers who match the following criteria:

  • Identifies with the values of The Kenward Trust’s vision and is able to demonstrate appropriate values.
  • Emotionally robust and able to demonstrate self-awareness and self-reflection; ideally will have undertaken personal therapy (one-to-one or group therapy) to enhance this.
  • Ability to engage in reflective practice and CPD opportunities, including ability to be reflective and constructive with feedback and development.
  • Commitment to working within the policy expectations of The Kenward Trust and a personal commitment to equality of opportunity and anti –discriminatory practice in service delivery.
  • Able to demonstrate good levels of self-care.

Project Volunteer

PROJECT VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED FOR KENWARD COMMUNITY AND LODGE PROJECTS

Have you got a few hours to spare on a regular basis? You can make a huge difference to someones life however little or large amount of time you can offer.

This could be running a resident to the doctors or the bank, playing a game of chess or just being a listening ear.

We need people to help in our gardens and assist with the growing of the produce for the benefit of our residents and for sale in our lovely cafe.

Are you handy and able to help with those constant maintenance jobs that come with such a large site and a house that is over 400 years old!
