Bake Sale Inspiration

We recently launched our April Bake Sale event, where we are asking you to get baking and host a bake sale to raise money for Kenward Trust. It will be a month-long event, which gives you the flexibility to choose the date you want to hold your bake sale on. All details can be found here, and it’s not too late to sign up.

We’ve put some tips and inspiration together for you to help you host a fantastic event:

  1. Choose your venue carefully; you need to make sure you have plenty of space and accessibility for your guests. Your home may be suitable for this or you may need to consider hiring a local hall or function room

  2. Share your event on social media; spread the word about what you’re doing and encourage other people to join you and get involved

  3. Tell us what your doing; we love to hear what you’re planning, and can help to promote your event across our social media

  4. You don’t just have to bake cakes; you could also make cupcakes, brownies, cookies and donuts! And if you’re not a great baker, then there’s no harm in buying a cake/brownie/cookie/donut or two (or three!)

  5. Don’t forget to consider food allergies; make little cards stating the ingredients of each cake in order to keep your guests safe

  6. Hold your own ‘Bake Off’; hold a competition for best flavour, best design or even the messiest cake. Let your guests know about the competition in advance, so they know what to expect

  7. Have a theme; make it interesting by creating a theme for the baking, from Easter (since this event is taking place over Easter), to colours, or a certain flavour, or maybe even a particular animal (we like alpacas and goats here!)

  8. Consider the timing of your Bake Sale; late morning is a popular time for a cuppa and a cake, but if you’re holding it at your school, then you might want to host it around the end of the school day, so parents and carers can collect their children and grab a sweet treat at the same time

  9. Make sure you know what everyone is baking; you don’t want too many duplicate cakes

  10. Have clear prices; make it easier for you and your guests by having clear, set prices for each item

  11. Take plenty of photos; then you can share them online along with your success story for the event, and then you’ve also got a library of photos if you want to hold the event again in the future

And don’t forget to send us your photos afterwards so we can share your stories on our social media!
