Offering a safe and professional environment, Kenward House provides evidence-based treatment, trauma-informed care, and compassionate support to help individuals overcome addiction and rebuild their lives.

Residents benefit from a dedicated team of professionals including a Consultant Addictions Psychiatrist, psychotherapists, therapeutic group workers, keyworkers, and support staff, all committed to delivering tailored recovery programmes.

Kenward Trust accepts self-funded placements at competitive rates alongside referrals from local authority agencies.

“Recovery is possible, and it starts with a single step,” said Mark Holmes, CQC Registered Manager at Kenward Trust. “At Kenward House, we empower people to take control of their future with the tools, therapies, and support needed for lasting change.”

Two Evidence-Based Recovery Pathways

Kenward House offers two core treatment programmes designed to meet individual needs:

  • SMART Recovery Model – Empowering Change
A flexible 12–24 week programme blending Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), psychoeducation, psychotherapy, one-to-one counselling, and keyworking. Creative workshops in art and pottery, interaction with animals through Kenward’s Therapeutic Gardens & Workshops (rated “Outstanding” by the CQC), plus meditation and Reiki, help residents heal in mind, body, and spirit.

  • 12-Step Programme – Community and Connection
Rooted in the principles of a therapeutic community, this programme provides step work, off-site fellowship meetings, counselling, and themed group sessions, building resilience and mutual support.

Trauma-Informed and Medically Supported Care
Kenward House integrates trauma-informed therapies, including EMDR and Trauma Release Exercises, supporting residents in addressing underlying causes of addiction. Specialist input is provided by Dr Annie McCloud, Consultant Addictions Psychiatrist, who works with clients facing co-occurring mental health conditions.

“I am delighted to join the Kenward Trust team to help develop their services for clients with complex needs,” said Dr McCloud.

Recovery Plus – Sustaining Change After Treatment
Kenward Trust’s Recovery Plus programme, available onsite and online, offers continued guidance, peer support, and relapse prevention for individuals after residential treatment, ensuring long-term progress.

Residents at Kenward House have shared life-changing feedback:

“I now have better health, feel physically stronger, and have more confidence… I am feeling happier and with a deeper sense of wellbeing.”

“You’ve given me hope, I feel like I’ve won the lottery.”
