Led annually by UK charity Alcohol Change UK, Alcohol Awareness Week runs from 7-13 July 2025 and this year’s theme is ‘alcohol and work’.

This Alcohol Awareness Week, Kenward Trust is joining the national campaign led by Alcohol Change UK, highlighting the often-hidden impact of alcohol on working life.

Whether it’s stress-related drinking, a workplace culture that normalises alcohol, or the isolation of remote work, alcohol can silently shape our careers and wellbeing.

Why This Week Matters?

Alcohol Awareness Week is an annual, UK-wide campaign, focused on raising awareness of alcohol-related harm and encouraging positive change across communities—including workplaces, families, and personal habits.

  • Over 10 million people in the UK drink in ways that could cause harm.

  • Alcohol-related issues cost UK workplaces billions in lost productivity every year.

  • Many people feel unable to speak up or seek help—especially at work.

At Kenward Trust, we believe in removing stigma and replacing it with understanding, support, and real pathways to recovery.

Understanding the Silent Signs of Alcohol Dependency

Alcohol dependency doesn’t always look like what we expect. It can quietly develop behind busy work schedules, social lives, and daily responsibilities—making it harder to spot until it begins affecting health, relationships, or careers.

Recognising the early signs is a powerful first step toward change. Ask yourself:

  • Do your hands shake in the morning?

  • Do you think about drinking soon after waking up?

  • Are you skipping work—especially on Mondays or after heavy weekends?

  • Do you secretly drink before going out with friends or to social events?

  • Do you feel guilt or shame about how much you drink?

These may seem small or easy to justify, but together, they can point to a growing dependence on alcohol.

At Kenward Trust, we understand how subtle these early signs can be. Whether you’re concerned about yourself or someone else, you don’t have to wait for things to get worse. Our experienced team is here with confidential support, expert guidance, and recovery programmes that work.
