John Bunyan Leaver Charity Donation

We were delighted to greet two trustees from the John Bunyan Leaver Charity at Kenward Trust on Wednesday 21st February 2024. Peter and Marilyn presented Hetty Palmer, our Marketing and Fundraising manager with a cheque for £100 in support of The Kenward Trust.

The John Bunyan Leaver Charity is a local charity in East Farleigh which was founded in 1936 when John Bunyan Leaver, chairman of East Farleigh Parrish council gifted 3.5 acres of land for the purpose of being used for allotments. Up until the 1950’s the charity also distributed donations of coal to families in need, this gave rise to the charity being known locally as the Coal Charity.

The charity has around 35 plots and a smallholding, all of which are in tenancy, with a waiting list. The trustees carry out an annual inspection of plots and meet twice a year to consider and agree ongoing maintenance requirements, individual plot housekeeping, and latest guidance from the National Allotment society of which the charity is a full member, and of course charitable donations.

We would like to give a big thank you to the charity for selecting The Kenward Trust as one of their chosen charities. We really appreciate donations from the local community and value their support. Every donation we receive has a big impact on the life-changing work here at Kenward Trust.
