Recovery Month 2022

September is Recovery Month, where we aim to increase awareness and understanding of addiction and celebrate every journey of recovery.

It is widely acknowledged that addiction can affect anyone, from any walk of live and at any stage in their life; it does not discriminate. Having said that, it is also true that recovery is possible for everyone, albeit through determination, dedication and hard work. At Kenward Trust, we try to help as many people as we can, be it those directly affected by addiction or by educating people about the risks involved in substance misuse.

The reality is that recovery is a life-long journey, and not something that takes three, six or even twelve months to complete. Whilst our residents may not be with us for very long in the grand scheme of things, what they learn here, they then have to put into practice out in the ‘real world’, and for the rest of their lives. Despite being a sometimes difficult and on-going process, the rewards are endless. You get your life back; your family, your friends; you get to do things you never imagined being possible. It may not be instantaneous, but, one day at a time, you will get your YOU back.

We are immensely proud to be part of our residents’ journeys and to be able to make a difference, not just to them, but to their friends and families as well. Addiction doesn’t just affect the addict; it affects everyone who is close to the addict, but they too can heal and recover, as the addict does.

If you would like to share your story of recovery, please email us.

Alternatively, if you or someone you know, is struggling with an addiction, please contact us to find out how we can help.
