Miriam Barker

Miriam is an ordained Anglican priest and currently works as an Anglican prison chaplain in a men’s prison. She was ordained in 2011 and since finishing her curacy she has worked outside the church in chaplaincy in various places, working with people who are homeless or recovering from addiction, including as a chaplain at Kenward for six and a half years. She has an MA in Contemporary Ethics and has served for 10 years on Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust Clinical Ethics Board. She is a trained Spiritual Director, spent many years as a school governor and until recently was Area Dean of Tonbridge Deanery.

Prior to ordination she was a doctor, working as a GP and for some years part-time in palliative care.
