Kenward Trust Discovery Event Showcases Innovation, Recovery and Hope

Kenward Trust welcomed partners, professionals, supporters and members of the local community to its Discovery Event, offering an inspiring insight into the life-changing work taking place across the charity.

The event brought together staff, residents and guests for a programme that showcased both the clinical excellence and the human impact of recovery at Kenward Trust, highlighting the charity's holistic approach to supporting individuals affected by addiction and homelessness.

Guests heard from Dr Annie, Kenward Trust's Consultant Psychiatrist, who explained the vital role of specialist mental health support within addiction treatment. This was followed by an engaging presentation on Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), one of the evidence-based therapies available to residents as part of their personalised recovery journey.

Among the most powerful moments of the day were a series of lived experience stories and personal poems shared by residents. Their courage and honesty provided a moving reminder of the resilience, determination and hope that recovery can inspire, leaving a lasting impression on everyone in attendance.

The programme continued with a presentation from Kenward Trust's Resettlement Team, showcasing the practical support provided to help residents rebuild their lives and successfully transition back into their communities. Guests also heard further personal stories from current residents, offering valuable insight into the challenges they have overcome and the support that has enabled them to move forward with confidence.

Following the presentations, attendees enjoyed lunch prepared and served at Kenward Trust before taking part in guided tours of the charity's beautiful grounds and facilities. The tours gave visitors the opportunity to experience first-hand the therapeutic environment that plays such an important role in supporting recovery, wellbeing and personal growth.

Penny Williams, Chief Executive Officer of Kenward Trust, said:

"Today was a wonderful opportunity to showcase the extraordinary work taking place at Kenward Trust. We heard from professionals delivering highly specialised treatment, but most importantly we heard from people whose lives have been changed through recovery. The honesty, courage and hope shared by our residents was incredibly moving and reminded us all why this work matters so much. We are grateful to everyone who contributed to such an inspiring and successful day."

The Discovery Event forms part of Kenward Trust's ongoing commitment to increasing understanding of addiction, promoting the vital role residential rehabilitation plays within the recovery pathway, and strengthening relationships with commissioners, healthcare professionals, funders, partners and the wider community.

By opening its doors, supporting the Open Houses Campaign, Kenward Trust hopes to encourage greater awareness of the specialist support available, challenge misconceptions surrounding addiction, and demonstrate that recovery is possible with the right care, compassion and opportunity.
