Kenward Trust Marks Recovery Month by Sharing Stories of Hope and Transformation
Throughout September, Kenward Trust will mark ‘Recovery Month’ by sharing powerful stories of recovery, resilience, and hope to highlight the life-changing impact of addiction treatment and ongoing support.
Recovery Month is an annual opportunity to raise awareness, challenge the stigma surrounding addiction and celebrate the many individuals and families whose lives have been transformed through recovery.
Throughout the month, Kenward Trust will be sharing a series of videos featuring former residents and their families, offering honest and inspiring reflections on their recovery journeys. The campaign aims to demonstrate that recovery is not only possible but can lead to healthier relationships, renewed confidence and a brighter future.
Among the stories being shared is Jessica's journey, alongside the moving testimony of her mother, who describes the moment she realised her daughter was finally in a safe and supportive environment. Her heartfelt words, "Thank you because you gave my daughter back,” capture the profound impact recovery can have on an entire family.
The campaign will also feature Josh's recovery story, in which he challenges one of the most common misconceptions surrounding sobriety. Reflecting on his experience in rehabilitation and resettlement, Josh explains how recovery helped him rediscover happiness, connection and enjoyment without relying on substances.
By sharing these lived experiences, Kenward Trust hopes to encourage more people to seek support, start conversations about addiction and help others understand that recovery is about much more than overcoming substance misuse. It is about rebuilding lives, restoring relationships and creating new opportunities.
Penny Williams, Chief Executive Officer of Kenward Trust, said:
"Recovery Month gives us an opportunity to celebrate the incredible strength and determination shown by those taking steps towards a healthier future. Every recovery journey is unique, but they all share one common theme: hope. Through sharing these powerful stories, we want people to understand that addiction does not define a person's future and that recovery is possible, not only for the individual but for the families and communities around them. We are incredibly proud of everyone who has chosen to share their experiences and inspire others to seek support."
Since 1968, Kenward Trust has been supporting people affected by addiction and homelessness through residential rehabilitation, supported housing, resettlement services and a range of recovery-focused programmes across Kent.
This Recovery Month, Kenward Trust is encouraging everyone to help spread the message that recovery is possible and to learn more about the support available for individuals and families affected by addiction.
