Kenward Trust’s Three Peaks team completes challenge and raises over £5,000
Nine local business leaders from BNI Pioneer Maidstone completed a three-day ‘Three Peaks Challenge ', raising over £5,000 for Kenward Trust and its work educating young people about the risks of addiction.
Helen, Vikki, Jon, Charlie, Roland, Mike, Jim, Robin and Ben tackled Ben Nevis on 10 October, Scafell Pike on 11 October and Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) on 12 October, completing their final climb.
The challenge demanded determination and teamwork, battling the weather, with steep climbs, early starts and long days on their feet. From setting off in darkness and rain to celebrating at the summits, the team kept going with the encouragement of friends, family and supporters.
The funds raised will help support Kenward Trust’s work in schools, educating young people about the risks associated with drugs and alcohol and helping them make informed choices. Through this preventative work, the charity aims to give young people the knowledge and confidence to recognise risks and avoid a path towards addiction.
Kenward Trust extends a heartfelt thank you to all nine participants for their commitment, and to everyone who donated, shared the fundraising appeal or sent messages of encouragement throughout the challenge.
Jon Lovell said: “We have been on an epic journey together. Our team leader, Helen, organised and inspired us all to take on the amazing 3 Peaks challenge for Kenward, a charity that is close to all our hearts. Even though she is suffering from a severe knee injury, she completed the Ben Nevis climb on the first day, which helped push us all on to complete the rest when feeling broken too. Unwavering Team spirit, laughs, support, companionship and a shared passion for completing this challenge made sure we started and ended as we began…. A team! The money raised will be incredible for Kenward to continue their amazing work. It was an honour completing this with the team and for such a worthy cause.”
Penny Williams, Chief Executive of Kenward Trust, said: “We are incredibly grateful to the team from BNI Pioneer Maidstone for taking on this tough challenge in support of Kenward Trust. Climbing the three highest peaks in the UK over three consecutive days takes real determination, commitment and teamwork. Every pound raised will help us continue our work with young people, providing education and early intervention so they can better understand the risks associated with drugs and alcohol and make informed choices for their future. On behalf of everyone at Kenward Trust, thank you to the climbers and everyone who supported them along the way.”
Special thanks also go to Redfire Ltd for sponsoring the challenge and supporting the team’s fundraising efforts. Find out more about the sponsor at redfireltd.com.
