Kenward Trust’s Street Reach Service
Supporting Vulnerable Communities
Kenward Trust’s Street Reach Service, led by Dee Bonett and Paula Da Silva, has become a vital lifeline for vulnerable individuals in Maidstone. Launched to honour the memory of John Chadwick, a former resident of the Trust, the service offers essential support to those experiencing homelessness and crisis.
John Chadwick’s story reflects the transformative work of Kenward Trust. Once street homeless in London for two years, John joined the Trust’s rehabilitation programme in 2007, referred by St Mungo’s Homeless Charity. His inspiring journey motivated Dee Bonett, who became his best friend in 2008, to join Kenward Trust as an employee in 2010. Today, Dee co-manages the Street Reach Service alongside Paula Da Silva, continuing John’s legacy of hope and recovery.
The Street Reach Team assists soup kitchens in Maidstone Town Centre, providing food, practical assistance, and companionship to those in crisis, including individuals whose only companions may be their pets. The service’s compassionate approach and expertise in substance misuse, housing, benefits, and referrals have strengthened community partnerships and changed lives.
With demand for the service increasing, Kenward Trust seeks essential funding to sustain and grow its impact. Donations will enable the Trust to:
· Extend operating hours to reach more people in need.
· Equip the team with mobile phones, laptops, and uniforms to enhance service delivery.
· Engage with community events and meetings, building partnerships and awareness.
· Create promotional materials, such as leaflets and posters, to advertise the service.
Every donation, no matter how small, helps provide life-changing support to those in crisis.
Kenward Trust is deeply grateful to the public for their ongoing generosity and invites everyone to contribute to this vital initiative.
