Taylor Wimpey Supports Major Refurbishment of Kenward Trust’s New Recovery Accommodation in Tunbridge Wells
Kenward Trust is proud to announce the significant support received from Taylor Wimpey through CRASH, the construction industry’s charity, to refurbish essential facilities at the charity’s newly acquired supported accommodation, Colebrook House, in Tunbridge Wells.
Kenward Trust, Kent’s leading alcohol and drug rehabilitation and resettlement charity since 1968, provides life-changing support to individuals affected by addiction, homelessness, and crime. The charity's services range from early intervention work in schools to residential rehabilitation and supported housing. Colebrook House will serve as a vital 14-bed Stage 2 move-on property, offering safe accommodation and ongoing recovery support for people experiencing homelessness.
A Much-Needed Transformation
Before CRASH became involved, Kenward Trust had already completed initial upgrades to bedrooms and communal areas. However, the remaining refurbishment needs were significant, with seven WC and bathroom spaces requiring full renovation, along with the replacement of ten sink and vanity units throughout the property.
Through CRASH’s coordination, Corporate Patron Taylor Wimpey stepped in to provide substantial Gift in Kind support. This contribution included construction materials for all bathroom areas, such as sanitaryware, tiles, and flooring, as well as labour delivered by contractor Simcott, selected for their expertise and alignment with the project vision.
This investment has enabled Kenward Trust to continue transforming Colebrook House into a safe, welcoming, and restorative environment for residents rebuilding their lives.
Vicky Stipetic, PA to Anne Billson-Ross, Group HR Director, Taylor Wimpey, said:
“Taylor Wimpey is proud to support this CRASH project for Kenward Trust and the refurbishment of vital facilities for those on the road to recovery from addiction and homelessness. This partnership demonstrates the power of collaboration between the construction industry and charities to create lasting social value. Together, we’re helping provide a safe, supportive environment where individuals can rebuild their lives and reintegrate into the community.”
Penny Williams, Chief Executive Officer at Kenward Trust, explains: “Having a safe and comfortable place to call home is absolutely essential for those recovering from addiction. The refurbishment Taylor Wimpey and CRASH have made possible, will have a real and lasting impact, providing dignity, security, and a sense of stability that makes all the difference in their tough journey.”
A Step Forward in Providing Hope and Stability
The refurbishment of Colebrook House marks another milestone in Kenward Trust’s mission to offer stability, dignity, and opportunity to individuals seeking recovery and independence. The charity expresses deep gratitude to Taylor Wimpey, CRASH, and all partners whose contributions have strengthened the Trust’s capacity to serve the community.
